What a year 2023 was for Kape Moss. We had always hoped our first horse for Eclipse First would be able to give our syndicate members some racing experiences to remember and I think it's safe to say she certainly exceeded expectations.
A winner at 2, 3 and 4, Kape Moss gave the team a runner (and a shout!) in the Listed Ellen Chaloner Stakes at Newmarket on 2,000 Guineas day where she returned to the winners' enclosure in 4th. She backed that up with a 2nd in the Listed Cecil Frail Stakes at Haydock - to subsequent Gr.1-placed GET AHEAD who went on to sell for 2,500,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale!
Trained by Dave Loughnane, Kape Moss also gave the team the experience of a runner at Royal Ascot where the ground wasn’t to be that day and she finished her season on a career high official rating of 96.
A full-sister to Group 2 Greenlands Stakes (6f) winner Gustavus Weston (OR: 115), this mare was a talented sprinter with true fighting spirit.
We look forward to seeing what her progeny go on to do on the track. Her first foal being a striking filly by leading sire Night Of Thunder.
Kape Moss made it a special day to remember at Goodwood for the Eclipse First Racing team!
